SPECIAL KIDS SPECIAL FAMILIES
ZACH’S PLACE AND TRENTON’S FRIENDS RESPITE CARE PROGRAM

ANNOUNCING A NEW RESPITE CARE PROGRAM!

Dear Interested Parents/Guardians:

Families who are caring for children with disabilities have an important job. Often there are challenges to find adequate caregiver resources that are meant to address the unique needs of families. Special Kids Special Families has been helping families with respite care for the past 10 years through Zach’s Place Program. We now want to help you by introducing our home based program, “Trenton’s Friends”.

Trenton’s Friends was named after a boy who had multiple disabilities. He was adopted by a very loving and special family; who cared for him in the most tender and loving way. He outlived his life expectancy of 3 years to be age 13. He was a blessing to all who knew him. He was the treasure to his family, and we want to provide exemplary care, as his family was known to have given.

Our goal is to be a helping hand – a support service to families; keeping in mind what the family needs in regards to caregiving, integration of children with disabilities into their communities and helping the family by enhancing life skills training.

Here is what we can do:

1.  Meet with you to develop a care plan that not only includes your child with a disability, but can include any other children in your home.

2.  Devise a plan that meets your family’s desire for what is best for your child. That care plan can be to provide services in your home, in the child's community (by getting the child into activities with peers and others); and offering facilty based care at Zach's Place.

3.  We will help families seek funding sources and provide an ability to pay option.

4.  For some families of low income, in rural El Paso County, we are able to provide respite care options through a grant.

5.   Our program can provide care for up to 10 hours at one time.

6.  Our staff are trained in CPR, First Aid, medication administration and in working with various disabilities. All staff have background checks completed.

It is our goal, through our special needs programs to strengthen families so that they can be strong and healthy families.
