Special Kids Special Families Receives Grant for Zach’s Place program
Special Kids Special Families is announcing that it has received a $15,000 Daniels Fund grant to support Zach’s Place program.
Since 1998, Zach’s Place provides families in the Colorado Springs and surrounding areas a place for respite care and child care for children ages 5-21 with disabilities. This program was started by two mothers of children with disabilities who couldn’t find services to give them the breaks they desperately needed. Zach’s Place offers active, structured and free play while teaching life skills and socialization skills. Zach’s Place offers youth with disabilities activities that include field trips, swimming, sports, park activities, arts and crafts and days filled with fun! We also offer Teen Nights and Fun Nights designed for adolescent youth to establish social connections.
“This grant will enable our program to provide services to families for children with disabilities. We are honored to receive this grant,” said Linda Ellegard, Executive Director of Special Kids Special Families.
Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television known for his kindness and generosity to those in need, established Daniels Fund to provide grants and scholarships in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. For more information, please visit www.danielsfund.org.
