Make a Difference in the Life of a Teen
Special Kids Special Families is currently recruiting therapeutic foster families who are interested in making a difference in the life of a teenager.
Some of the teens are waiting to have a family to go to so that they can leave the residential facility where they are residing.
Some of the teenagers have a developmental disability; and for those youth we are looking for parents who would like to have a teenager
live with them into adulthood (become their adult foster parent or host home parent).
Certification process includes background checks, training (provided by Special Kids) and homestudy.

Becoming a family that will take a special needs child into your home will be the most rewarding thing
you will ever do. We are not an agency that is looking for foster parents, we are looking for families that
will allow a special child into their home and into their heart.
We have a simple process to start that allows all administrative paper work and back ground checks to be
completed in a minimal amount of time. With our constant support and training, you could be a parent to
a special child.
The Foster Care Certification Process:
You will need to be able to meet the Colorado State's minimum standards for family foster care regarding:
living space, safety, health, and general caring for children. You will need to have "emotional room" for
additional children, flexibility, patience, and a committed attitude in handling a multitude of situations.
You will need to be willing to participate in on-going training and support services. You will need to consider
your family as members working toward the interest of the children. A home study will need to be completed
on your family, which will include back ground checks.
